About the role

As our first Financial Controller, you’ll be creating, not maintaining. You’ll help transform a fast-moving, ambitious company into a financially mature, scalable business, while gaining such experience in the process.

Practicalities

Hybrid mode: This role requires presence in our Kamppi office at least 3 days per week. Don’t worry - you won’t be alone or hangry there. (We keep a stocked fridge…)
Level of expertise: Mid-senior.
Employment type: Full-time and permanent.
Start date: January 2026 (the sooner the better).

Your responsibilities

Own monthly closing processes and financial statement preparation to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Act as the main point of contact for external accountants and auditors, facilitating smooth and transparent collaboration throughout the financial year.
Oversee all aspects of tax compliance, including preparation and submission of corporate income tax, VAT/GST, and other statutory filings.
Provide guidance on resolving invoicing discrepancies, client billing questions, and payment tracking issues.
(In the near future) Prepare for the company’s future transition to group accounting and consolidation as it grows or adds subsidiaries.

Your key competencies

University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Taxation.
3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
Familiarity with the IFRS standards (preferably from larger scale ups and/or the Big 4).

Nice-to-haves

Familiality with finance-related regulation used in Finland.
Practical understanding of PowerBI and SQL.
Interest in the AI industry.

Success criteria for this role in the next 6-12 months

Support of upcoming funding rounds. This role will help strengthen the financial foundation and credibility needed for successful fundraising.
Compliance & reporting ownership. Achieve 100% on-time submission and zero compliance issues or penalties.
Fixed asset management excellence. Establish and maintain a reliable asset register for servers and other major assets.
Internal reporting & insight generation. In addition to timely and accurate reporting, use data analysis to recommend improvements in our processes and ways of working.
